For 10 years, I designed Christian T-shirts for several of the top Christian T-shirt companies in the nation. When I first started designing shirts, it was to make a few bucks, but then it became about the product (the money didn’t hurt). Too often I saw Christian shirts that were cheesy, shallow, or just embarrassing. And these were from some of the same companies that I sold to. Often I would submit designs and have companies rip the depth and meaning out of them just so they would be ‘more appealing to a broader audience.’
I understand that and had nothing against them for it. I understood that they were running a company to make money and sell shirts first, and secondly promote some form of teaching or relaying a message that needed to be told. But it still bothered me.
After a while though, these same companies start to close down, restructure, or change their business model. At the same time, other things started to happen that made me realize that if I wanted to sell shirt designs (and I really didn’t want to do secular work when my passion was for Christ), I’d have two options: 1.) continue to sell to smaller, independent companies or 2.) become one myself.
So after a year or life happening and other projects coming up, I finally got Xtian Designs off the ground with a fully functional website and store.
The one thing that you may find different about the designs on here is that they are not generalized. They are not shallow. They are designed with the intent to convey a message that may not be easy to accept for some, but is firmly grounded in scripture. They are designed to challenge people to live the life that Christ has called us to live, and be fashionable at the same time.
Thank you for stopping by and if you have gotten to the end of reading this, you indeed are an awesome person. God bless.
